Current Guidelines

Ferro, L., Gerber, L., Mani, I., Sundheim, B. and Wilson G. (2005) "TIDES 2005 Standard for the Annotation of Temporal Expressions" April 2005, Updated September 2005 -- the September version updates all references to the ISO 8601 standard to incorporate the latest edition (8601:2004, Third Edition).

Old Guidelines

Why do we provide outdated versions of the guidelines? Because some of the corpora have been annotated according to older tag specifications.

The following specification was used for TERN 2004.

TIMEX2 Quick-Guide. A two-page introduction to the 2003-2004 scheme.

The following two documents were used in conjunction with each other. The first one was written specifically for human annotators and it presents a task-oriented approach to tagging data. It was intended as a supplement to the second document, which is oriented more towards researchers and system developers, and contains additional background discussion and information.
